Laurent Estoppey - LA RENCONTRE DE L'IMMOBILE

by Laurent Estoppey

/
  • Compact Disc (CD) + Digital Album

Representing some of the best in the new generation of musicians combining the spontaneity of improvisation with the formal logic of composition, Laurent Estoppey is a saxophone player of great imagination whose work brings together noise, contemporary jazz and avant‐garde music with wit and a charming sense of wonder.
For his very first Thödol CD, Laurent gives us unique cutting edge music where he has put together remarkable program of pieces (including 2 inspired by Christian Guez Ricord) drawing upon autogenerative deterioration by Max/MSP programming and quadriphony.
His sonic experiment in the kind of hybridization of acoustic and electric music is wild and exciting. It often uses sound sources creating a hallucinatory atmosphere that blend instrumental virtuosity and electro acoustic sonorities in startling new ways. Mystery, lyricism, electronic soundscapes, lush sonorities, delicate harmonics, odd ambients, sound, texture... A lot of surprises from this marvelous voice from Switzerland to Greensboro, USA.
